Overview
The Musée des Confluences is Lyon's most striking contemporary landmark, a deconstructivist "Crystal Cloud" by Coop Himmelb(l)au perched at the point where the Rhône and Saône rivers meet. Opened in 2014, this science and anthropology museum explores big questions - Where do we come from? Who are we? What do we do? - through collections spanning 2.2 million objects, from dinosaur fossils to meteorites, Egyptian mummies to contemporary art. The building itself, with its swooping steel and glass forms, is as much an attraction as its contents.
